It’s a beautiful, shiny new week. Even if it feels like the road is too long, anything is possible when the goals and destination are specific. Imagine Change. Don’t forget to soak in the scenery along the way. It is after all, more about the journey than the destination.

Inspired by the lovely shutter sisters today, I am merging left and right brain. It takes the analytical baby steps of left brain and the creative letting go of the right brain to achieve and manifest the vision.

I am learning to lean on both sides of my brain when necessary. There is beauty to behold in their union. In the image above, the left brain is represented by the long and winding road. The right, conveyed through the fantastical sunset, offering, vision, change and all that is possible, in a stunning array of colors.

I thought I would be ready with before and after storage solution pictures today. Not the case, as my left brain has wandered from the task list. Ummm, slightly detoured by creative ideas hailing from the right side of my cranium, I have yet to complete said installation. Don’t give up on me. I will finish the shelves. I promise.

In the meanwhile, I am embracing the clean slate of Monday with joy. Hoping to power through my to do list and get on track. Cleaning corners and behind appliances. Packing up clothes that no longer fit my ever growing children. Mailings, groceries, shelves, etc. are the order of the day. The biggest challenge, is finding a way to make it all fun!

Are your days dominated by more left or right brain activities? Shake it up a bit this week. Do it different, stretch to make the uggggghhs (bureaucratic, left brain dailies) more fun. Or maybe you, like me, need to focus in and utilize your left brain prowess to harness the tremendous creative capacity of the right brain?

Either way, have a fabulous Manifest Monday! Do share what you are working on!

One Love, walk good, wo-manifesting…

Really? It’s Monday? Already? Whew! What a gorgeous weekend. Hope you had as much fun as we did over here on the rock. Just soaking up sunshine (not saying this to make you feel bad, but it’s true) and the heavenly breeze, savoring ripe fruits and in joying some good ol’ fashion family time.

Sometime last week, I made a comment about wanting to disassemble the shelves in the family room and refurbish them. Within moments a few bredren (male peeps), including my husband, descended and commenced said project. Ummm, I didn’t realize anyone actually heard me murmuring to myself about wanting to make this change. How’s that for action? Well, the shelves were painted by late afternoon and well on their way to dry. The only glitch was that I needed fabric to finish the base of the shelves. And where we live, going to buy fabric is pretty much an all day event.

This is, after all, Jamaica. If you don’t live here, you may have heard that everything takes between 3 and 100 times longer to do.

So, I still need the fabric for the finishing. And silly me, I, didn’t even think to take before pics of said project for you. So the ‘after” images will have to suffice. That is, as soon as I get fabric (hopefully, later today or tomorrow) and actually coax the shelves into a photo worthy, “after” state. I think it will be refreshing to enhance this corner of our home and I look forward to the change.

Manifesting a newly refurbished space (albeit small) can be a very easy thing to do. Especially if your contribution consists of murmuring under your breath, which is all I’ve done, so far anyway. The fabric part is easy and I’ll share with you later this week some quick fix, cost effective storage (Not made in China)!

What are you manifesting this monday? Rearranging your cosmetics drawer might make your week a little happier. Maybe you are buying pretty, new towels to fold and put away in your (freshly reorganized, hint, hint) linen closet? Why not give away or recycle the magazines next to your bed? You know, the stack you’ve flipped and read through one hundred times (but haven’t parted with because you might read them one more time). Making a list of house, art or craft projects you’d like to work on is also a great start!

Remember! The simple task of writing a to do list can bring forward little and/or grand changes! Anyway, I’d love to hear what you’re working on! 🙂

Oh yeah, and do you like my latest Exotic Blüm?

One Love, walk good, off to revamp…

I am consistently delighted and surprised by the herbal medicine to be discovered in my own yard. If you belong to the baby boom generation your memories of this product may not be entirely pleasant. Apparently, “back in the day” it was used to induce regularity where there was none. My mother (a baby boomer and biologist) unearthed these seeds on a hike through our land last week.

Turns out, castor oil and particularly Jamaican, black castor oil, has been used for a variety of ailments and benefits for centuries. When picked, dried, opened, roasted, boiled, this seed produces a naturally wonderful oil good for a variety of internal and external uses. Since ancient Egyptian times this plant gained popularity for it’s smooth, cleansing effects on the skin and growth factor for hair. The leaves can be used as a bug repellent and the oil can chase away ringworm. Many a pregnant woman has swallowed this foul tasting stuff to induce labor. But did you know that it can also help the softening and dimnishing of wrinkles and stretch marks? Hmmmm talk about affordable alternatives to night cream.

Ultimately, a great cleanser for inside and out, Castor oil can also be used as a purgative. Given that it is Monday (again) I share this bit of herbal folklore and history in the hopes of inspiring a clean slate. Move out (purge) what isn’t working for you, invite in more of that which makes you smile. Inhale renewal, exhale the stale. Clean out the proverbial purse, kitchen drawer, glove compartment, “to do” file, etc.

Start anew. Embrace the possibility and inspiration of Manifest Monday.  You can be or do anything! Start something you love! Go on, rub yourself up in some good ol’ fashioned Castor oil. I promise you and your week will feel smoother and brighter!

Do one tiny thing to sanctify the arrival of a new week and watch the parade of possibility unfold before you…

One Love, walk good, Happy Monday!

I am swimming in a sea of overwhelm. I can’t sleep at night. I pace the house in the wee morning hours in an attempt to unravel the knots, bundle and tie up unfinished ends. Is it too late for baby steps? Metamorphosis is upon us.

Whew!  Transformation brings pressure. Today, I am breathing deep and giving thanks for Monday. Oh blessed Monday. Always a clean slate and chance to start something new. This week is crucial. Change is cultivating, culminating and congealing. I am vague about the nature of upcoming changes because they are vast and uncertain. Patience, my peeps, all will soon be revealed.

I snapped this photo at the annual Negril Donkey races yesterday. For me, it sums up oneness perfectly. This sweet couple doesn’t know I captured the image. But I think they would like it. I love living in a popular destination town. Visitors hail from all over the world and we are gifted the opportunity to meet members of the human family often. It makes for a very colorful and creative existence.

When I feel like I am clinging to life by super short (jewelry making) fingernails, it is oneness that anchors me. The current of sameness runs through our veins. I know I am never alone. Even when change is looming at my front door…

Well it’s Monday again. More than likely, several of you are feeling this one a bit more than usual. Super Bowl Sunday, parties, good times, snacks, beverages awesome! Monday morning, not so much (especially for us Steelers fans).

All the more reason to practice…

Gratitude that is. I look for gratitude (which ultimately translates into joy and love) in every little thing. Sometimes it turns up in the most unexpected ways. Over the last few years I’ve made a habit of finding myself grateful. This manifests in mental and written lists. Keep it simple. I like to start with three things everyday. The list tends to grow from there. It’s basic, gratifying and opens my eyes and heart.

For example, today, I am grateful for:

  1. Bob Marley
  2. Get Your Paint On (a class I enrolled in/ birthday gift to myself)
  3. The fact that I finally cleaned out my purse (aka the red cow). Incidentally, not the easiest task. But gratifying all the same.

Technically, I could go on and on. I am super grateful that my husband got up at five to squeeze orange juice for us even though he had to leave the house when it was still dark. And super duper grateful that I am not sharing a pounding overhang (hangover) with millions of football fans. You get the idea.

It’s easy, cheezy. But if you practice, eventually, it will come naturally to you. You will notice small changes in your life and the way you look at things and people around you. Gratitude prompts and little pieces of love will start to pop up everywhere.

Like this sweet heart leaf in an otherwise ordinary tree.

Where did you find love today?

One Love, walk good, practicing gratitude…

You hold the keys to change.

It is Monday, which has it’s own built in opportunity to cleanse, if only by the sheer luck and misfortune of being the “first” day of the week. Here’s to manifesting, organizing, clearing, refreshing.

I spent time yesterday in the tangled delight of a studio cleanse. It always makes me feel inspired to move stuff out and straighten what is staying. I don’t know about you, but I’m rarely inspired by studio clutter and project remains. I prefer a crisp and clear, creative expanse. I am energized by empty, open spaces.

Shelves, journals, desks, tables, walls, etc.

Wherever you are, I hope you are inspired to have a productive day. Sometimes sorting a stack of magazines on the coffee table can make you feel more organized. Sometimes, a simple chore (i.e., cleaning out your purse) is enough to trigger a spark of inspiration so grand you are unable to contain it! Keep it on the positive and change won’t overwhelm you. Distance is reached in baby steps.

What are you manifesting this monday? Whether you are making lists, crossing items off of your list, or just incubating and floating in creative process, I wish you a beautiful and organized Monday.

One Love, walk good, Wo~manifesting…

Hello Monday!!! What a packed week. I love summer. Even if it is hurricane season in Jamaica. There is a special kind of breeze that rolls through this time of year. It brings mangos, avocado (pear), baby shoes, rain and way too many flies. In the spirit of new beginnings, mondays, entering a new month, a friend’s wedding, a new day planner, a best friend’s birthday and a brand new niece, here’s to a clean slate! Monday’s rock! Hope your schedule is looking up and that you’re creating summer memories and plans.

I have a new day planner that starts this week. Yay! I have had it since May and am spilling over with ideas, goals and action steps to ink into my new boss. It’s true, I work for myself so at this point my blog and my day planner are my disciplinarians. Opening a new planner is definitely cleaning the slate. The emptiness of the little spiral book beckons for creativity, mobility and chores. I don’t know what system works for you but I like to see the month and then weeks and have space to write out details for each day. I also like a section (I look for wide margins) for inspiration. I jot inspiring things in the margins, and come back to them when my creativity is running on empty.

I am at the peak of my digital challenge and hope to make significant progress in this next week with my new shop and site. I think my new boss (the planner) will be extremely helpful in this endeavor. Although this remains to be seen as the speed of internet delivery is not working in my favor from my current, rural, location in the hills of St. Ann. Stay tuned for studio shots and announcements of upcoming sale!!! Have a great Monday!!!

One Love, eating mango & writing in my planner…
