So I know it has been cyber eons since we last connected…ilaful

I am sending this post in Love & Light, with the intention of regathering the tribe of readers who faithfully visited somethingblu over the years…

Thank you for waiting so patiently for my return. I’m still busy growing littles, adorning incredibles and coding up a storm!!! Since we last spoke I’ve moved and traveled, thousands and thousands, of miles. I’ve conceived, forged and created some truly, life changing, magical pieces, and delighted in the wonders that continue to unfold for my clients (give thanks). I’ve ministered a few weddings, and worked away at design and content for my new site.

I’ve missed writing here and all of you a whole heap! I am so grateful to return to this special little corner of the blogosphere to point you towards my latest project/web joint. Even though it is a simple sign up form, for now. I am over the moon excited about my upcoming site. It’s indeed a labor of LOVE but worth every single, painstaking second, to eventually have a home for ALL of my passion, inspiration, works, and generally upful stuff, etc…

Please have a looky loo at ilaful.com!!!

Be sure to link up with the ilaful tribe to recieve ilaful inspiration updates and info about the ilaful site launch!!!!

It’s studio Friday. And I’m over at Studio JRU again sharing some fab photos of my beloved creative space. All in a weeks work. In joy these macro and beyond views.

I am participating in Get Your Paint On! A wonderfully, inspiring and encouraging e course designed to support you (in this case me) in getting your paint on. It is a five week course. I have yet to complete my first assignment but I’m loving the homework. I should wrap up by saturday (so more photos soon). As you can see paint has been the focus in the studio. Yes, the beads are wining and chiding me for neglecting them and the metal. Fret not, I’ll get to them soon enough. I love moving across mediums. It infuses me and keeps my perspective fresh. A big thanks to Mati Rose and Lisa Congdon for putting together this class for folks who’ve never picked up a brush (but always wanted to) experienced painters (that need a kick in the pants), and a few of us in between (like me).

Have an ilaful day and a gorgeous weekend! Do something you love.

One Love, walk good, off to paint…

Happy 2011 to you and yours! I don’t know about you but I’m partial to odd numbers. And although I grew fond of 2010, I am ready for the big 11. Here’s to looking forward! I am pondering the changes I’d like to live out this year. They are numerous. It is time once again, to let go of that which no longer serves us. It’s time to visualize and practice what it is we strive to be, do and feel.

A series of quiet revolutions are finding their way to my New Years list. The first of which is that I am not making any resolutions, per se. I am embracing flexibility and open to change. I am moving forward. I am blogging. I am designing and creating adornment infused with intention. I am growing. So are the children and their trees. Years ago, it  seems I ordered several batches of life changing events. After much delay, the orders are finally arriving and I am scheduled for some big time transformations in the coming year. How about you?

What a splendid time to be thinking, writing, dreaming about transformation. The velocity of the world  and it’s New Year celebrating inhabitants, make a stark jumping off point for change. So many folks are concentrating and aiming their energy towards goals, aspirations and the annual resolution list. It’s contagious.

I wish you all creative joy, passion and the courage to pursue your best possible self.

One Love, walk good, oh, and this photo was taken at 3:00 am today.

Fall has been quite a fall for many this year. Transition is definitely in the cool autumn air. Perhaps it’s already freezing where you are. Perhaps you’re still where it is warm and sunny but your heart is frozen and in need of warmth. Two dear friends shared with me this week that they are “getting divorced”. These two friends live on the east and west coasts of the states and don’t know each other. Yet, each is for me a shining example of strength, femininity and motherhood. Each is starting her life over. Again…

It has been tough to swallow their newfound facebook “status”. Mainly because I am so fond of each of their husbands. I thought for sure they would last. I am grateful that my friends felt safe sharing their news of life upheaval, or as someone recently described it to me “rebranding”. I want to send love, blessings for the changes, hope for a brighter day and healing for all of the hearts living this transformation.

I ‘ve had a piece of unfinished, jewelry, a talisman of sorts, on my studio shelf, at eye level, for almost a year now. A bit of an anomaly, the piece never arrived at it’s inspired and intended destination. Only a couple of broken bits of it’s originally much larger and graceful form survived a studio accident. And in it’s decrepit state it was rendered design unworthy. But never mind that. What’s more important: I didn’t have the heart to let it go. Hmmmmmmm.

Until…

Salvage the Precious was born.

That the little pieces would mean something. Could be sewn together again, but different. Sewed apart. Embraced and moved on to. Something new. Transformed. Translucent. Light shining through the cracks…

So that’s it folks. With some genuine inspiration, I salvaged the broken, design unworthy, piece of hand crafted, fine silver. I left her with a few scratches as her imperfections are her own. Gorgeous in their own right. The necklace unifies three pieces, the fine silver pendant represents the single self, prior to marriage. I added a heart to the pendant to represent the heart that loved her way into marriage. Rose quartz with a touch of copper helps stimulate the change process, the heart that loves it’s way out of marriage is mended with unconditional, universal love.

My dear sisters/friends/confidants, you will never again be the same. May the dark, cold winter of your heart await the coming spring with passion and the curiosity of children. May you love and be loved everyday. May you recognize the love that comes to you in so many ways. May the coming year bring for you a better day.

One Love, walk good, salvage the precious…

There is something so yummy about copper.  This hand crafted/etched copper pendant was designed and created with love in mind.  More life is an ode to life and part of the limited edition series: Copper Revival.  Adorned with turquoise, a dyed bronze pearl and attached to a copper chain with a hand made, sterling ring, this piece is sure to delight. I have worn copper jewelry for over a decade but only started incorporating it into my work in the last year or so.  I love the warmth and the pallet it offers.  I also adore this metal for it’s acclaimed healing properties.

In fact, the ancient Egyptians used the Ankh, the symbol of eternal life, as the hieroglyphic character for copper. Hmmmm.

Renown for its ability to aid those with arthritic and joint complications, copper, is an incredibly healing metal ore.  It is known in many cultures as a cleanser for the organs and the circulatory system. Many believe that it increases the flow of oxygen into the body and facilitates filtering out of toxins.  It is a fantastic metabolic stabilizer and a necessary mineral for physical health.  A lack of copper in the body is identified as one of the culprites of greying hair.  Western science/medicine has only tapped into the very surface of this ore’s healing abilities…

I have definitely benefited from the goodness of copper.  I find I am able to work (metal) with my hands with less stiff/soreness when I wear my copper rings and/or bracelets. This metal polishes up deliciously and has a warm tone close to that of rose gold.  A perfect gift for a bride or groom, and/or bridal party, the love pendant and sentiment will not disappoint. Copper has a good vibe and comes highly recommended by generations.

We live in such a beautiful place.  A world renowned tourist paradise.  I enjoyed touring with friends from the states this week.  My eyes are opening to some really “hot” destinations.  Seeing Jamaica in a new way.  Like it’s my first time on the rock.  This photo was taken at the world famous Ricks. Ricks is known most especially for it’s stunning “Sunset in Negril” view. This Jamaican, west coast, establishement  made famous I’m sure, by it’s icy cold Red Stripe. Can’t come down? Drop by  www.rickscafejamaica.com

Friday night we caught the sunset show, steel drum band, cliff divers and some really fun drinks.  I couldn’t resist this sunset shot.  I see the sunset often from up here on the hill.  We rarely participate in the grand tourist phenomenon, that can accompany a Negril sunset!   I take for granted what a gorgeous time folks from far have (in the dead of winter) at just such a moment in Negril.  And it is right here for me all the time… Ahhhh smile.

Wherever you are, (of course I wish you were here) love it.   Celebrate where you live and explore whatever little niches your town is known for.  Undoubtedly, someone, not from your town, is currently having an amazing time in your town!   Thankful to be reminded  by friends and family at home and elsewhere, what a beautiful island we get to share here.  Grateful I can share a piece of it with you.  Have a gorgeous day!
